The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, unveiled three new train sets for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line at the National Theatre Station.
According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, each set includes four cars, and with this addition, Lagos is doubling its current passenger capacity on the Blue Line.
“This will directly improve the commute for thousands of Lagosians, reducing wait times, speeding up journeys, and making the system more reliable overall. Our goal is to have trains arriving every 10 minutes.
“I’m deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for their strong support. From procurement to delivery, their backing made this possible,” he stated.
The governor disclosed that the state will receive new trains for the Red Line, which will have twice the capacity of the Blue Line trains, before the end of the year.
“Construction on Phase 2 of the Blue Line (Mile 2 to Okokomaiko) is also progressing. We’re building infrastructure and a better future for urban mobility in Lagos. And we’re just getting started,” he added.
