I Don’t Want Mourinho Back at Real Madrid – Casillas

Former Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas has said that he does not want Jose Mourinho to return to Real Madrid.

Casillas, who played for Real Madrid’s senior team for 16 years, urged the club to look elsewhere for a manager.

ThelensNG reports that Álvaro Arbeloa was promoted from Real Madrid Castilla to the senior team on January 12, 2026, following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso. Arbeloa is unlikely to remain at the club next season after the Spanish giants went trophyless this season.

Consequently, the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners are searching for a new manager, with Mourinho, the current coach of Benfica, reportedly being linked with a return to the club.

However, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Casillas opposed the idea, saying: “I have no problem with Mourinho. He seems like a great professional to me. I don’t want him at Real Madrid.”

He added: “I think other coaches would be better equipped to coach at the club of my life. Personal opinion. Nothing more.”
