
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has decorated 19 senior police officers with their new ranks at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The decoration ceremony which took place on Thursday witnessed the promotion of 3 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistants Inspector-General of Police (AIGs), while 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs).
This is according to the Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed that the newly decorated AIGs include AIG Garba Ahmed, AIG Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo, and AIG Salman Garba Dogo.
Similarly, the decorated CPs include CP Cyriacus Enechukwu, CP Gombit Bangs, CP Rosemary Akpan, CP Ayodele Adeyemi, among others.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun applauded the newly promoted officers and charged them to diligently discharge the responsibilities of their new ranks.
He urged them to leverage their extensive knowledge of policing in safeguarding the country, “in strict adherence to the Rule of Law, as the Nigeria Police Force continues to emplace strategies toward a more secure nation and national development.”
Dignitaries present at the event include Prince Ma Sani-Omolori; former Clerk to the National Assembly (The Ciroma of Ebira Land), Mr. Nebeolisa Anako and former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu(rtd.).
Others are members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior police officers, and families of the promotees.
