Internet Fraud: EFCC Arrests 17 Suspects in Kwara, Recovers Cars, Phones, Laptops 



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

EFCC disclosed that the suspects were apprehended by its Ilorin Zonal Directorate on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, after being rounded up at Asa Dam, Al-Hikmah University area, Gaa-Odota, as well as in the Ganmo and Amoyo areas of the state.

It also noted that the arrests followed actionable intelligence linking the suspects to internet fraud activities in the state.

“Items recovered from them upon arrest include three luxury vehicles, high-end mobile phones and laptop computers.

“The latest arrests came on the heels of that of last week that involved 47 suspects, picked up in Ilorin and Ifelodun LGA on the basis of intelligence that exposed their fraudulent internet activities,” the anti-graft agency stated.

It added that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
