Jos Attack: Nigeria Normalising Loss of Lives, Obi Laments

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed concern over rising insecurity in Nigeria following the attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, lamenting that the country is normalising the loss of its citizens.
ThelensNG reports that the attack, which occurred on Sunday night, led to the deaths of several residents and left many others injured.
Reacting to the incident, Obi said: “The recurring loss of innocent lives in Plateau State reminds us, yet again, of the insecurity innocent citizens face in our nation without any protection. These continuous devastating headlines are a reminder of a nation that is steadily normalising the loss of its own people.”
According to him, it is unacceptable that these attacks happen with such frequency, and even more unacceptable that there seems to be no decisive, sustained strategy to end them.
Obi stated that no nation or leader normalises tragedy, stressing that the safety of Nigerian lives must become non-negotiable.
He noted that Nigeria cannot continue to mourn what should have been prevented, emphasising that enough is enough.
Obi sympathised with families who lost loved ones, saying: “May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and their memories never be forgotten.”
He further prayed for a country where the loss of lives is no longer a recurring reality, adding that Nigeria cannot continue like this.
