
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects identified as Amos Jondo Maliki and Mansuru Sani for the defilement of two minors in the state.
The Command‘s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, emphasising the Command’s sustained efforts to ensure zero tolerance for child abuse, exploitation, and all forms of gender-based violence in the state.
“On the 27th August, 2025, one Vina Shehu ‘f’ aged 10yrs of Bedi, Zuru LGA of Kebbi State, was sent on errand by her mother. While on her way, one Amos Jondo Maliki ‘m’ of the same address lured her into his room and had sexual intercourse with her.
“Additionally, on the 6th September, 2025 at about 1730hrs, one Nana A’isha Aminu Wala ‘f’ aged 5yrs of Goribbu area Birnin Kebbi, went to the shop of Mansuru Sani ‘m’ aged 48yrs of the same address, to buy sweet. In the process, the said Mansuru Sani waylaid her into his shop and inserted his finger into her private parts,” the statement noted.
CSP Abubakar revealed that upon completion of a discreet investigation by a team of detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, both suspects were arraigned in court.
Commenting on the arrest, Kebbi Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, appreciated the giant stride of the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kebbi State, Dr. Barr. Junaidu Bello Marshall, for his swift response and commitment to ensuring the diligent prosecution of gender-based violence cases in the state.
CP Sani also condemned the incidents in strong terms and reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering determination to protect the most vulnerable members of the society, while promising that justice would be pursued in due course.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to a zero-tolerance stance against child exploitation, abuse, and all forms of gender-based violence.
The CP urged parents to monitor the movement of their children and not hesitate to report gender-based violence cases to the nearest police station for prompt response.
