Kwankwaso Accuses ADC Campaign Council of Political Mischief, Reaffirms NDC’s Candidacy

Rabiu Kwankwaso has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council of engaging in political mischief through its alleged attacks on him, presidential candidate Peter Obi, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kwankwaso made the accusation in a statement on Sunday, October 18, 2026, describing the alleged attacks as unnecessary and unhelpful.

He stated that the ADC campaign council had focused on targeting the NDC and its presidential ticket rather than presenting the competence, credibility, and capacity of its own candidate to Nigerians.

The vice-presidential candidate noted that the campaign council had also attempted to portray the NDC ticket as working for the ruling party and suggested that it might withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate.

Kwankwaso dismissed the claims, insisting that the NDC would not step down for the ADC or any other political party.

“Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party,” he said.

He also maintained that the NDC ticket was neither working for nor acting on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or any of its candidates, describing suggestions of a possible withdrawal as unfounded.

The former Kano State governor urged the ADC Presidential Campaign Council to focus on addressing allegations levelled against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima rather than attacking him and Obi.

Kwankwaso equally criticised the APC-led government, saying it had failed Nigerians, while arguing that the ADC offered no better alternative.

He expressed confidence in the NDC ticket, describing it as a credible and viable option with the capacity, track record, and broad support needed to lead the country.

Kwankwaso reiterated that the ticket was committed to national unity and addressing critical challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, and the economy.

He further described the NDC as the country’s most formidable and viable opposition party, urging its supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to remain committed to securing the party’s victory.
