LASODA Champions Inclusive Procurement, Pledges Regulatory Compliance

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has said that it is intensifying its commitment to transparent and inclusive governance through a comprehensive sensitisation on procurement processes and the inauguration of a dedicated Planning Committee.

The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal made this known while hosting the Procurement Process Review Committee recently, reaffirming the Agency’s unwavering commitment to full compliance with all procurement regulations.

According to her, LASODA will exclusively engage contractors duly registered with the Lagos State Government, guaranteeing adherence to legal frameworks.

She said: “We are resolute in our commitment to spending government funds judiciously and in strict accordance with procurement laws. Our dedication extends to fostering an inclusive procurement system within the state.

“By embedding principles of accessibility and inclusion, we aim to create equitable opportunities for all members of society to actively participate in the economy and contribute meaningfully.”

In response to a detailed presentation outlining the procurement process flowchart and the roles of key stakeholders, the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Fatai Onafowote, lauded LASODA’s proactive approach.

He emphasised that the fundamental purpose of the procurement process is to secure optimal value for public expenditure and ensure that all project and programme transactions adhere to due process, thereby bolstering transparency, accountability, and cost-effectiveness.

Onafowote further assured LASODA of the State Government’s full support in making its procurement processes disability-inclusive.

He tasked the Director of Finance and Accounts at LASODA with ensuring the meticulous deduction of all statutory fees from awarded contracts, a crucial step in maintaining accurate financial tracking and reporting in line with procurement regulations.

The DG also commended Yomi Oluniyi, the Director of Procurement at LASODA, for his proactive efforts in raising awareness and promoting the practical implementation of the Special People’s Law and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) inclusivity within the Agency’s operations.

This strategic move by LASODA signifies a significant step towards fostering a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance framework within Lagos State.
