Liverpool Forward, Luis Diaz’s Mother Rescued from Kidnappers as Father Remains Missing

The mother of Colombian footballer, Luis Díaz, who plays for Liverpool football club has been rescued from kidnappers after the authorities reported his parents were missing in the department of La Guajira north, said President Gustavo Petro.

“In operation padlock in Barrancas (northern Colombia), Luis Diaz’s mother has been rescued, we are still searching for the father,” the president said on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

According to local media, Luis Manuel Díaz and Cilenis Marulanda were at a service station in their town, in the department of La Guajira, when armed men on motorcycles intercepted them.

“From the moment the Attorney General’s Office learned of the kidnapping of the parents of the Colombian player Luis Díaz, in the Barrancas sector, in La Guajira, a specialized team of prosecutors, police and military have worked to find “the location of these people, clarify the facts and find those responsible,” indicated the investigating entity through the X network.

The director of the Police, General William Salamanca, deployed intelligence agents and other entities of the entity to the area to deal with the case.

The police are “devoted from now on to carrying out checkpoints, identifying people on motorcycles, private public service vehicles for the recovery of the two kidnapped people, the soccer player’s father and mother.” Luis Díaz,” Salamanca told the press earlier.

For her part, the governor of La Guajira, Diala Wilches rejected the kidnapping.

“I reject and condemn the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s parents, Luis Manuel Díaz and Cilenis Marulanda, in events that occurred in Barrancas today. I have given instructions to the authorities to immediately implement rescue tasks,” he said in X .

“We demand that the kidnappers be returned immediately, safe and sound,” he added.

The 26-year-old Liverpool and Colombia national team winger has not commented on the matter.
