NAFDAC Boosts Enforcement Operations with Three 20ft Trucks

As part of efforts to enhance its regulatory and enforcement activities, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has strengthened the operational capacity of its Directorate of Investigation and Enforcement with the deployment of three 20ft trucks.

The trucks, comprising a Mercedes-Benz LK 1620, Mercedes-Benz 1414 and Mercedes-Benz 1413, were formally received by the Directorate at its Apapa, Lagos office to improve logistics and facilitate effective enforcement operations.

Receiving the vehicles, the Director of Investigation and Enforcement, NAFDAC, and Chairman, Federal Taskforce on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, expressed appreciation to the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, for equipping the Directorate with the necessary operational resources to carry out its mandate effectively.

Iluyomade said the provision of the trucks would further strengthen the Directorate’s capacity to respond promptly to regulatory and enforcement demands, particularly those requiring the movement of personnel, equipment and seized products during enforcement operations.

The development comes as NAFDAC continues to intensify its regulatory and enforcement activities against counterfeit, fake, unwholesome and unregistered regulated products across the country.

The Directorate of Investigation and Enforcement is responsible for investigating violations of NAFDAC regulations and conducting enforcement actions aimed at protecting public health.

Iluyomade has also reiterated the agency’s resolve to intensify enforcement against operators involved in the circulation, sale and promotion of prohibited, counterfeit or unregistered regulated products.
