The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in efforts to combat the use of counterfeit medicines, curb drug abuse, and fight terrorism.
NAFDAC announced the partnership on Sunday, noting that the MoU is part of a national campaign to reduce illegal drug trade, prevent violent extremism, and manage hazardous chemicals that could be exploited by non-state actors.
Commenting on the development, the Director-General (DG) of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye highlighted the importance of the partnership in saving lives and preventing drug-related crimes.
On his part, NCTC Coordinator, Major-General Adamu Garba Laka, emphasised the collaboration’s role in boosting information sharing, joint operations, and intelligence cooperation to combat terrorism effectively.
NAFDAC stated that the partnership underscores both agencies’ commitment to safeguarding public health, national security, and preventing the misuse of drugs and chemicals in Nigeria.
