
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized 1,008 cartons of counterfeit cosmetic products with an estimated market value of about ₦250 million in Kano State.
The Kaduna team of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of NAFDAC carried out the operation following credible intelligence on the activities at packing shops number 17–20, Kwangiri, behind Maikarami Plaza, Kano.

The raid led to the recovery of various counterfeit cosmetic products including 151 cartons of Vitamin White, containing 24 carats each; 14 cartons of Kaera Carrot Oil (Paix & Armor), containing 24 units of 200ml each; 143 cartons of Ebony Cocoa Butter, containing 24 units of 500ml each; nine cartons of Savon Nawa Pure Black Soap, containing 13.5kg each; 12 cartons of Sun Protect Anti-Aging, containing 60 units of 100ml each; and 341 cartons of Yellowvate, containing 24 units of 450ml each.
Also recovered were 142 cartons of Ebony Bath Gel, containing 12 units of one litre each; 108 cartons of Cire D’Abeille, containing 24 units of 450ml each; 69 cartons of Ebony La Savonnie, containing 12 units of 750g each; nine cartons of Switch Carrot, containing 48 units of 250ml each; and 10 cartons of Amore, containing 96 pieces of 50ml each.

According to a document obtained by ThelensNG, the recovered products have been evacuated to a NAFDAC warehouse for further investigation, while the four packing shops were sealed.
The owner of the facility, who is currently at large, has been invited to Kaduna for interrogation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the individual.

NAFDAC advised members of the public to exercise caution when purchasing cosmetic products by checking for date markings and valid NAFDAC registration numbers.
The agency also urged consumers who are in doubt about the authenticity of any product to contact the nearest NAFDAC office for verification or to lodge a complaint.
