The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized substandard products, including expired candles, beverages, and unregistered items, valued at over ₦350 million at Singer Market and several supermarkets in Kano State.
NAFDAC disclosed this on Monday, noting that the intercepted products also included foreign items without English labelling.
The regulatory body revealed that the operation was led by its Directors of Investigation & Enforcement in the North-West Zone.
“In addition, unregistered food and cosmetic products were seized from well-known supermarket chains.
“NAFDAC is continuing its investigation into those involved in the distribution of these products and urges the public to report suspicious items to the nearest NAFDAC office,” the agency stated.
It reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that only safe, quality-regulated products are sold in Nigeria.
