NAFDAC Uncovers Fake Healthcare Centre in Port Harcourt, Arrests Suspect

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced the discovery of a fake healthcare operation at the Community Town Hall in Abuloma, Port Harcourt.

NAFDAC disclosed this on Tuesday, noting that individuals posing as missionaries were administering unregistered drugs and products to unsuspecting residents under the guise of free medical evangelism.

“NAFDAC officials discovered that the fake practitioners were distributing products such as “Evangelist Jenkins Supernatural Water,” “Evangelist Jenkins Eye Drops,” and other unregistered items falsely claimed to treat conditions like cancer, fibroids, glaucoma, and arthritis.

“Reports revealed that some users suffered adverse effects, including swollen eyes, which the fake operator falsely described as signs of healing,” the regulatory body stated.

The agency revealed that a woman identified as Mrs. Gladies Theophilus was arrested during the raid, while the main suspect fled and remains at large.

NAFDAC noted that it has evacuated the counterfeit products to its zonal office and launched a full investigation.

It urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious healthcare activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
