The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has warned members of the public against fraudulent recruitment and appointment letters being issued by unscrupulous individuals impersonating the agency.
NAMA, in a statement on Monday, said the fraudulent activities were targeted at unsuspecting job seekers and had the potential to undermine the integrity and corporate identity of the agency.
According to NAMA’s Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa, the agency is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise and has not authorised any individual, group or organisation to recruit or facilitate employment on its behalf.
“NAMA does not authorise individuals or third parties to solicit money or other consideration in exchange for employment.”
The agency therefore advised members of the public to exercise utmost vigilance and avoid making payments, submitting sensitive personal information or entering into transactions with anyone claiming to offer employment opportunities on its behalf.
It urged anyone who receives a recruitment notice, employment communication or appointment letter purportedly from NAMA to independently verify it through the agency’s recognised official channels before taking any action.
NAMA also advised the public to disregard unofficial correspondence, social media messages and representations by unauthorised intermediaries offering employment opportunities.
The agency said suspected cases of impersonation or fraudulent representation should be reported to the appropriate authorities, stressing that it would not accept responsibility for losses or consequences arising from dealings with fraudsters or unauthorised persons falsely claiming to act on its behalf.
NAMA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, institutional integrity and protecting members of the public from fraudulent activities.
