NDLEA Seizes 7.6m Tramadol Pills, 76,273kg Colorado, Skunk in 3 States

...Destroys Drug Warehouses in Ekiti, Ondo Forests

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have seized over 7.6 million pills of tramadol and a total of 76,273.4 kilograms of various strains of cannabis, including Colorado, Loud and Skunk, in a series of intelligence-led operations across states.

The interdiction also led to the arrest of several members of drug trafficking organisations linked to the activities.

The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday, detailing the nationwide operations that also resulted n the destruction of illicit drug warehouses and forests serving as storage points.

Out of the total opioids recovered during the raids, not less than 3,874,000 pills of tramadol 225mg and 100mg, alongside 252.2 litres of codeine syrup, were seized from a warehouse at Oko Market, Asaba, Delta State, on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

In a related operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted a vehicle along the Onitsha–Owerri Road at Orogwe, Imo State, on Wednesday, December 3, leading to the recovery of 1.2 million tablets of tramadol 225mg and the arrest of a suspect, Kelechi Nwakocha, 35.

In Lagos State, NDLEA operatives recovered 113kg of Canadian Loud from a suspect, Ezenwa Udoka, at Ladipo Market, Mushin. Another suspect, Izuchukwu Usulor, was arrested with 351kg of skunk at the Onipanu area of the state, while Susan Okoro was apprehended with 104.1kg of the same substance at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.

In Ekiti State, operatives of a special operations unit stormed forests in Omuo-Ekiti where they destroyed 14,654 kilograms of skunk and arrested two suspects, Yusuf Iliyasu, 50, and Okumu Chinedu, 26.

In another operation in Asin-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area, the operatives destroyed 54,300kg of skunk in two large warehouses that were razed, while 28.3kg was recovered for prosecution purposes.

Following actionable intelligence, NDLEA operatives also raided Igoba Forest in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday, December 2, where 2,483 compressed blocks and 247 bags of skunk, weighing 5,442kg, were recovered. Five suspects—Jacob Omodowo, 66; Joy Oluatobi Peace, 24; Babatunde Olamide, 40; Echi Fidelis Joseph, 57; and Ankrah Akano, 56, were arrested during the operation.

In Edo State, 447.5kg of skunk was recovered from two Honda Accord vehicles marked ABC-678 KK and GGE-772 FB at Agho Forest in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of Dada Adedara Babawibi, 56. In another raid at a warehouse in Isiefve community, Ohuwunde Local Government Area, operatives seized 315.8kg of skunk and arrested a suspect, Stanley Obasuwa.

Elsewhere, 500kg of skunk was recovered from a Mercedes Benz van marked MGU 614 XB along the Mokwa–Jebba road in Niger State on December 4, with the driver, Amos Yakubu, 46, arrested.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), NDLEA operatives intercepted 22kg of Colorado at the Abaji Expressway on Wednesday, December 3, while a follow-up operation at Jabi Park led to the arrest of a female receiver, Ali Blessing, 33. Another suspect, Aliyu Usman, 39, was arrested on Friday, December 5, along the Kwali–Gwagwalada Expressway with 24kg of skunk and 573,500 pills of exol-5.

In Adamawa State, NDLEA officers on Monday, December 1, intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus marked MGU 554 XB along the Maraba–Mubi road, coming from Jos, Plateau State, and heading to Mubi. A total of 1,577,112 capsules of tramadol and exol-5 tablets were found concealed in jumbo bags mixed with new rubber sandals and slippers.

Two suspects, Kabiru Buba, 25, and Hamza Abubakar, 32, were arrested. Similarly, a third suspect, Mudansir Rabiu, 27, was arrested along the Zaria–Kano road in Kano State with 197,000 pills of exol-5.

Meanwhile, commands and formations of the agency across the country sustained their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities during the week, targeting schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities, including outreach programmes in Kano, Benue and Rivers states.

Commending the officers and men of the Special Operations Unit and NDLEA commands in Delta, Adamawa, Imo, Ondo, Lagos, Kano, FCT, Niger and Edo states, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), said their operational successes, particularly their balanced approach to drug supply and demand reduction, were well appreciated.
