Nigerians Benefitting from Tinubu’s Policies Across Sectors – Bwala

...Says President Will Defeat Atiku, Obi by Wide Margin in 2027

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said that Nigerians across different sectors are already benefitting from the policies and reforms of the administration.

Bwala made the assertion on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while defending the performance of the Tinubu administration and its chances of securing re-election in 2027.

He stated that the confidence of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was based on the administration’s record in office and not on the “perceived weaknesses” of the opposition.

Bwala pointed out that beneficiaries of government interventions in education, agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure, and small and medium-sized enterprises constitute evidence that the administration’s policies are yielding results.

He cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying about one million families had benefited through support that enabled their children to access higher education.

He also pointed to government interventions in agriculture and manufacturing, as well as credit facilities and other programmes targeted at small and medium-sized businesses.

“For example, one million families whose children have benefited from the NELFUND programme, what they are benefiting is called prosperity. Otherwise, they could not have had the funds to go to school,” he said.

The presidential aide also argued that infrastructure projects and subsidised healthcare services should be regarded as tangible manifestations of prosperity.

“If you go to an environment or a place where there have been no roads or any form of infrastructure and we have established infrastructure there, what has come to them is prosperity,” Bwala explained.

He added that assistance to patients requiring dialysis, women undergoing Caesarean sections, and entrepreneurs receiving government support were also examples of the administration’s interventions.

Bwala rejected claims that the government’s declaration that prosperity had arrived meant Nigerians would experience an immediate transformation from October 1.

He explained that President Tinubu’s reference to prosperity was about the direction of the country’s economy and the cumulative impact of government policies, rather than a promise that all economic difficulties would disappear on a particular date.

He noted that the administration inherited significant economic challenges but embarked on reforms it considered necessary to place the country on a path to sustainable growth.

“None of the presidents that came before Tinubu had the courage to do it because of the fear of what you are saying today. But the president said we can’t make any progress. So he took that reform.”

While acknowledging that the reforms had caused hardship and that poverty remained a serious challenge, Bwala maintained that the difficulties were part of the adjustment associated with major economic reforms.

“There is no part of the world where you start a reform like that and there will not be discomfort,” he asserted.

On the 2027 presidential election, Bwala expressed confidence that Tinubu would defeat major opposition contenders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

He dismissed arguments based on Tinubu’s 36 per cent share of the votes in the 2023 presidential election, saying the political circumstances had changed considerably since then.

Bwala argued that the APC had strengthened its political structure since the last election, referencing the support of governors and political figures who, according to him, were now backing the President.

“Since then, President Bola Tinubu has got how many governors on his side? How many governors have joined him?” he asked rhetorically, noting that governors control political structures in their respective states.

He also claimed that several political figures who supported Atiku and Obi in 2023 had since moved away from their camps.

According to him, the changes in the political landscape would significantly strengthen Tinubu’s chances in 2027.

“The margin of gap that President Bola Tinubu will give each and every one of these candidates will be so much that you won’t believe it,” he said.

Bwala further argued that the administration’s achievements and the number of Nigerians who had benefited from its programmes would ultimately influence voters.

He emphasised that the President’s supporters could point to beneficiaries across the country’s 36 states, particularly in welfare programmes, agriculture, credit schemes, and infrastructure.

The presidential aide reiterated that economic progress should be assessed broadly and not solely through indicators of hardship.

He mentioned that the administration’s reforms were already producing what he described as “marked progress” and argued that the benefits would become increasingly evident as the reforms matured.

Bwala equally criticised opposition politicians who, he said, were presenting overly negative assessments of the administration and had already developed what he described as a “defeatist attitude” towards the 2027 election.

He maintained that the APC’s confidence stemmed from its performance in government and the political support it had garnered since 2023.
