NSCDC Partners FGC Nise to Boost School Security in Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reached a partnership agreement with the Federal Government College Nise to boost school security in the state.

The State Commandant, Maku Olatunde announced this on Tuesday, March 25, when he received Mrs. Umezuruike Gladys, the Principal of FGC Nise on a familiarisation visit at the Command’s headquarters in Awka.

Superintendent of Corps, SC Okadigbo Edwin, the Head, Media and Tactical Operations of the Command made this known in a statement.

In his remarks, Commandant Olatunde reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ramping up security measures to safeguard the well-being of students, teachers, and host communities across the state.

He explained that collaboration, situational awareness, and compliance with security guidelines are vital in averting security lapses, stressing that the Command has done enough and is still doing more to provide a conducive learning environment for the students through the Safe School Project.

“The NSCDC considers it crucial to shield education from insecurity threats and emergency situations. To achieve this, we are intensifying our efforts and boosting our presence in schools to foster secure learning environments.

“In addition, we are implementing concrete measures to protect students, teachers, and schools, while also safeguarding the surrounding communities,” he said.

Olatunde urged everyone in the school community, including the administrators, teachers, students, and parents, to get behind the government’s policies and security efforts to keep schools safe across the federation.

Earlier in her address, Mrs. Gladys commended NSCDC for its professionalism in providing adequate security and tips for schools and host communities under the Safe School Project.

She expressed gratitude to the security agency for mobilising both human and material resources to counter the escalating threats facing students, staff, and educational institutions nationwide.

The Principal affirmed that the collaboration between the NSCDC and FGC Nise would protect teachers, students, and school assets, particularly in light of recent security concerns.
