NSCDC, Labour Ministry Partner to Curb Employment Scams in Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to combat fraudulent employment activities, including those related to labour administration, policy implementation, and regulation enforcement.

The partnership was agreed when the State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, hosted a delegation from the Ministry led by the Anambra State Controller, Mrs. Bernadine Oji-Ogbuehi, at the State Command Headquarters in Awka on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

The Head of Media and Tactical Operations of the Command, Superintendent of Corps, SC Okadigbo Edwin, made this known in a statement.

During the engagement, Commandant Olatunde pledged to collaborate closely with the Ministry on advancing labour-related initiatives, emphasising that the partnership aligns with the NSCDC’s commitment to promoting human capital development and building a prosperous workforce for the nation.

He acknowledged the significant challenge posed by employment scams, noting that fraudsters have deceived numerous innocent citizens, swindling them out of their hard-earned money by promising lucrative but fake employment opportunities.

Olatunde assured the delegation of continued cooperation and sought the Ministry’s support in the fight against the scourge of employment scams.

Speaking earlier, Mrs. Oji-Ogbuehi stated that the purpose of the visit was to establish a rapport and strengthen collaboration between the NSCDC and the Labour Ministry.

She noted that, given the Ministry’s responsibilities related to employment generation, labour protection, productivity improvement, industrial peace and harmony, occupational safety and health in workplaces, she was eager to work with the NSCDC to foster greater synergy for the benefit of citizens.

The meeting concluded with discussions on capacity building, knowledge sharing, and exchange of mementos.
