Obi Donates ₦10m to Madonna College of Health Technology in Abia

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi on Monday donated ₦10 million to Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Abia State.

Mr. Obi stated that the donation is geared towards his dedication to empowering the significant sectors of the economy, including health.

His words: “Following my visit to the Women Fellowship Pastoral Project, Umuahia, and my commitment to supporting the critical sectors of health, education, and fighting poverty, I visited Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Abia State, where I donated ₦10 million to the institution.

“Madonna College of Health trains health professionals who will contribute, in many ways, to a better health sector in the nation. With our health sector in Nigeria suffering from a severe shortage of health professionals, institutions like these that serve to bridge the gap by contributing immeasurably to the training of health professionals should be supported to do more.

“As I continue to support, in my way, the health and educational institutions across the country, I remain firm in my call for increased government funding in these critical sectors of health and education, in our nation.”

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) advised that Nigerian leaders must begin to prioritise the future of the nation by making such aggressive investments in the critical sectors today.

He encouraged the students to look beyond their academic journey and see themselves as critical contributors to the development of the country.

Obi also urged them to be change agents contributing to a better humanity, expressing confidence that “this, I believe, will help them make productive contributions to society.”

He further expressed gratitude to the proprietor, management, and staff of the College for their good work, stressing that “together, we all will build the New Nigeria we all deserve.”
