Oyo/Osun Customs Strengthens Ties with Police to Safeguard National Security

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has strengthened its partnership with the Oyo State Police Command to safeguard national security.

The partnership was reinforced on Friday when the Command‘s Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, and his delegation paid a familiarisation visit to the Oyo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The delegation was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, and the members of the Command’s management team.

In his remarks, CP Haruna acknowledged the Service as a critical stakeholder in protecting the nation’s borders and curbing the influx and consumption of illicit products that pose significant risks to the health and well-being of citizens.

He assured DC Adewole of the Command’s unwavering support and commitment to sustained collaboration with the Oyo/Osun Customs.

The Commissioner emphasised the importance of synergy between security agencies, noting that no single agency can effectively operate in isolation. Consequently, he urged both sister agencies to continue to foster unity and remain their brothers’ keepers in the collective pursuit of national security.

In his response, DC Adewole expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the Oyo State Police Command for the warm reception and the longstanding partnership between both sister agencies.

He noted that the NCS and the NPF have maintained a symbiotic relationship over the years, affirming that it has significantly contributed to operational successes and enhanced security within the region.

The Acting CAC further sought the continued cooperation and support of the Police Command, particularly in joint operations and intelligence sharing whenever the need arises.

He reaffirmed his commitment to leveraging the strong institutional relationship between the two agencies to advance their shared mandate of protecting society and ensuring economic stability.

The visit highlights the Command’s dedication to strengthening strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in order to enhance operational efficiency and promote a safer environment for lawful trade and community well-being.
