The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, at Layeri Village, Ikoyi-Ile.
The arrested suspects are Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported on September 24, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m. by a resident of the community, who informed the police that armed men had allegedly invaded a family compound in the area at about 4:20 a.m. that same day.
Olayinka disclosed that operatives immediately commenced action and proceeded to the scene to conduct a preliminary assessment and begin investigation.
He mentioned that preliminary findings revealed that three armed men had forcibly gained entry into Peter’s room and abducted him from the premises.
The assailants subsequently escaped through the National Reserve Forest after reportedly carting away a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone.
The spokesperson stated that further investigation into the abduction led to the arrest of the two suspects.
Olayinka affirmed that the arrested suspects are currently assisting the police by providing information relevant to the investigation.
He added that the arrests have provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident.
He stressed that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified coordinated operations aimed at securing the safe rescue of the victim and apprehending other fleeing suspects.
The Command reassured members of the public, particularly residents of the affected communities, of its commitment to their safety and security.
It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly share credible information with the police as the Command continues its efforts to resolve the incident and maintain peace and security across the state.
