The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has disclosed that plans are ongoing to relocate some correctional centres that are due for upgrades.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo made the disclosure on Tuesday during an inspection tour of key facilities alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako in Lagos State.
They visited the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, the International Airport in Ikeja and the Ikoyi Marriage Registry respectively.
In his address, Mr. Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to fulfilling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda that seeks to improve the economy and enhance livelihood for both the strong and the most vulnerable in a “business unusual” fashion.
He noted that the ministry has made significant progress in its e-Gates installation, emphasising that we “are looking forward to commissioning these facilities in the shortest time possible.”
Minister Tunji-Ojo added: “While plans are underway to relocate some of our Correctional Centres that have been caught up by urbanisation, we are collaborating with stakeholders to ensure our facilities align with their intended purposes and meet the highest standards.”
