President Tinubu Rewards D’Tigress with $100,000, National Honours for AfroBasket Triumph

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each member of Nigeria’s women basketball team, D’Tigress, and its technical crew.

President Tinubu also awarded $100,000 and a flat to each member of the team in Abuja. In addition, he rewarded each member of the technical crew with $50,000 and a flat.

This recognition followed Nigeria’s 78 – 64 victory over Mali in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket held in Cote d’Ivoire — marking D’Tigress’ fifth consecutive title.

Recall that on July 28, President Tinubu rewarded the Super Falcons with national honours, $100,000, and three-bedroom apartments after they clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
