The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has declared that the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration will secure a better future for Nigerians.
Speaking at the Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road event in Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday, Okpebholo stated that the reforms being implemented by the Federal Government would have lasting benefits for the country.
He stressed that the next president would have less work to do if the ongoing process were completed.
The governor explained that the reforms were necessary to address challenges facing the country and create room for future development.
“Everyone has a right to live,” he said, adding that the measures being undertaken would ensure that “the next president will have less work to do.”
He also expressed support for Tinubu’s administration, saying the President was working to stabilise the Nigerian economy.
“We are doing very well today. The president is stabilising the economy.”
Okpebholo urged Nigerians to be cautious about politicians seeking their support, advising those planning to contest elections to retain their money.
“Keep your money. They are the streets. The politicians are there to collect it from them,” he advised.
He recalled his interactions with the President and described Tinubu as someone who had intervened when he raised concerns over issues affecting the people.
Okpebholo noted that his concern remained the welfare of the people, stressing the need for government to take decisions that would benefit citizens.
He further highlighted the importance of educating young people, noting that lack of education and employment could worsen the challenges facing society.
The governor emphasised that efforts to provide opportunities for young people would help address some of the problems confronting the country.
He maintained that the reforms underway should be allowed to continue, saying their completion would create a foundation for the country’s future.
