‘We’ve Monster to Deal With,’ Ex-Senator Decries Social Media’s Influence on Children

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Mr. Shehu Sani, has decried the effect of social media on Nigerian children, describing the situation as a monster that must be confronted.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Sani asserted that social media is the biggest distraction to the education and discipline of children of this generation.

“Australia has banned under-16s from social media, France and Britain are thinking of doing the same. Nowadays, every parent has a story to tell about the influence of phones and social media on their kids,” he stated.

The human rights activist lamented that Artificial Intelligence (AI) further complicates the problem.

He added: “We have a monster to deal with. It’s not so easy, but the young must be rescued.”
