Wike Hails Tinubu, Says FCT Has Witnessed Rapid Development Under His Leadership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has credited President Bola Tinubu’s leadership with what he described as the rapid transformation of the nation’s capital, saying the administration’s support has made it possible to deliver critical infrastructure projects across Abuja.

Wike stated this on Friday during the Day 13 commissioning of Roads 01 and 02 linking the Mabushi Bus Terminal and Ahmadu Bello Way in the FCT.

The minister affirmed that the President’s directive that every district in the FCT must feel the impact of his administration has guided the execution of projects across both the city centre and satellite towns.

“Everybody is saying that things are happening in their city. It is because of you. It is because of your leadership,” Wike said while addressing President Tinubu who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He described the President as a courageous, assertive and focused leader whose commitment to delivering results has motivated members of his administration.

“When you have a courageous leadership, when you have an assertive leadership, when you have leadership that is focused and determined to achieve results, the subordinates do not have any other choice. We have no choice but to do what you have directed us to do because all the logistics have been given to us,” he said.

The minister expressed appreciation to the President for consistently approving requests needed to execute projects, noting that the administration had never lacked the necessary support to deliver on its mandate.

“We have not complained because we know each time we run to you for any request, you have always granted it to us. Without you, it would have been difficult,” he added.

Wike highlighted the significance of road infrastructure, explaining that roads remain the foundation of development.

He stressed that the newly commissioned road would stimulate economic activities and boost real estate growth in the area.

“Road is the bedrock of any development. Look at this road, look at the houses. But for this road, these houses wouldn’t have come up,” he said, emphasising that improved road networks encourage investment and increase property development.

The minister also recalled the commissioning of the Jahi-Gwarinpa interchange on Thursday, saying the ongoing 31-day commissioning exercise reflects the administration’s resolve to ensure that virtually every district in the FCT benefits from government projects.

He further disclosed that President Tinubu would continue the commissioning of projects in other parts of the territory, including satellite towns, in the coming days.

In a political remark, Wike stated that he would compile a list of leaders of what he described as the “fake opposition” and take them round completed projects in the FCT.

“I will compile a list of their chairmen and secretaries, wherever they are living here, and I will show them all the roads we have done for them to get to their houses,” he said.

Wike thereafter invited Shettima to formally commission the Mabushi road project, dedicating it to the glory of God.
