
The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it generated ₦38,022,972,592 billion as revenue in the first quarter of 2025.
Comptroller Joy Edelduok, the Customs Area Controller, said that the figure depicts significant increase of ₦14,354,916,057, compared to what was obtained in the Q1 of 2024 which stood at ₦23,668,056,535.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, VU Ogagbor.
Ogagbor noted that the Command transferred intercepted expired drugs, including nine 40-foot containers to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), as they contravened the NCS Act 2023.
Speaking on the revenue generated, Comptroller Edelduok attributed the growth to the effective revenue collection strategies and the efforts of the officers and men of the Command in combatting smuggling and illicit trade.
She emphasised the Command’s commitment to stakeholders’ engagement through an open-door policy, fostering positive relationships and promoting compliance.
The Comptroller expressed gratitude to stakeholders and partner agencies for their collaboration, imploring them to continue working together to move the country forward.
She also thanked the officers and men of the Command for demonstrating integrity in the fight against smuggling and illicit trade, and urged them to always adhere strictly to the rules of engagements while discharging their statutory duties.
The Kirikiri Customs boss equally appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for their support, motivation and the platform to excel.
