MARCON Names Hajia Muse Maritime Woman of Impact

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Bomarah Group and chieftain of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Hajia Bola Muse has been honoured with the MARCON Maritime Woman of Impact Award.

The award, presented by the Maritime Correspondents’ Organisation of Nigeria (MARCON), recognises Muse’s longstanding involvement in the maritime industry, her entrepreneurial leadership and her contribution to the advancement of women and vulnerable groups in society.

Muse has spent more than three decades in the maritime sector, building Bomarah Investment Limited into a diversified business with interests including customs clearing and forwarding, Warehousing & Storage, Inland Transportation & Haulage, Oil & Gas Consulting, amongst others.

The Iyalaje Kano and member of the Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) Port Operation and Logistics Committee, has held leadership positions in ANLCA, Nigeria’s oldest and largest professional umbrella body for licensed customs clearing and forwarding practitioners. She became the first woman appointed to the association’s National Executive Committee and currently serves as Financial Secretary.

Muse has also played key roles in promoting women’s participation in the maritime industry. She serves as President of Women in Maritime Africa (WIMAFRICA), Nigeria Chapter, while her industry profile has earned her recognition in the logistics and port operations space.

Beyond her business and professional activities, her impact extends to humanitarian work through the Bomarah Foundation, which she founded to support vulnerable people. The foundation’s interventions include empowerment programmes for widows and women, educational support, assistance for persons living with disabilities and other community-based initiatives.

The recognition therefore brings together the different dimensions of Muse’s career — her participation in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics industry, leadership within organised freight forwarding, advocacy for women and sustained philanthropic interventions.

Chairman of the MARCON Conference Planning Committee, Paul Ogbuokiri, said the award reflects Muse’s contribution to the maritime industry and the wider impact of her work.

He said MARCON considers her career and humanitarian efforts worthy of recognition, particularly her role in demonstrating the capacity of women to contribute meaningfully to maritime business, professional leadership and community development.

The award was presented during the 2026 MARCON National Conference on Sustainable Fishing, held on Wednesday, September 30, at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.

The conference, themed “Sustainable Fishing in Nigeria: Pathways to Growth, Food Security and Coastal Livelihoods,” brought together policymakers, regulators, maritime industry operators, researchers and other stakeholders to examine pathways for the sustainable development of Nigeria’s fisheries sector.
