Gov. Sanwo-Olu Allocates ₦5bn for Construction of New NYSC Camp Permanent Site
...Vows to Gift Corpers Passing Out Today ₦100,000 Each
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has allocated five billion naira (₦5,000,000,000) for the construction of new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp permanent site.
Mr. Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the support of Youth Corps members towards the development of the state – and vowed to gift those that completed their scheme today the sum of one hundred thousand naira (₦100,000) each.
He made this known at the passing-out parade of 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja area of the state on Tuesday.
While highlighting some significant developments for the NYSC community in the state, he said: “We are always committed to supporting our youth and I am happy to announce a sum of ₦5 billion allocated for the construction of a new Permanent Site for the Lagos NYSC Camp.
“In recognition of the dedication and hard work of our Youth Corps members, each corper passing out today will receive ₦100,000. This token of appreciation is in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the development of Lagos over the past year, bringing their expertise from all over Nigeria to serve in various capacities.”
The governor disclosed that his administration is also introducing a new initiative to reward excellence as the best one hundred corpers after their service year will receive automatic employment into the Lagos Public Service.
“This is our way of recognizing and nurturing the talents that will lead us into the future,” he stressed.
He added: “We have provided a 32-seater Hyundai bus to enhance transportation for the corpers. This is just the beginning of many more initiatives aimed at making the NYSC experience in Lagos a memorable and impactful one.”
