
The African Independent Television (AIT) has honoured Comrade Taofeek Adeleke with the 2025 Best Staff Award of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to duty.
The award was presented at AIT’s corporate head office in Alagbado, Lagos, where Comrade Taofeek was described as a selfless and highly committed security officer whose contributions to the foremost maritime labour union in the country have remained unquestionable.
The Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Ikemefuna disclosed this in a statement made available to ThelensNG on Sunday.
AIT noted that Comrade Taofeek has served MWUN diligently, exhibiting exceptional vigour, brilliance and dignity in the discharge of his responsibilities. Union executives and colleagues also commended him for his keen ability to detect and prevent security threats before they materialise.

An indigene of Oyo State, Comrade Taofeek is a former dockworker who transitioned into a security role within the union. His career trajectory and commitment to duty were highlighted as key factors that distinguished him among his peers.
While presenting the award to the President-General of MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, at his office, Comrade Taofeek was again praised by the union leader, who acknowledged his dedication, loyalty and consistent responsiveness to duty.
Comrade Bunu described him as a staff member who answers the call of duty at all times and considers service a dignity to humanity, adding that he has consistently gone to great lengths to achieve results, regardless of circumstances.
The MWUN President-General urged Comrade Taofeek to sustain his good conduct, noting that the award symbolises greater opportunities and recognition ahead.
In his response, Comrade Taofeek expressed gratitude to the MWUN President-General and the union’s leadership for their continued support and encouragement.
