Customs, DSS Strengthen Partnership to Boost Security in Kogi

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have reinforced their partnership to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance security operations in Kogi State.

The partnership was strengthened when the Customs Area Controller, Niger/Kogi Area Command, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, paid a courtesy visit to the State Director of the DSS, Kogi State Command, Mr. Aliyu Bashir, on June 17, 2026.

Speaking during their engagement, Comptroller Umar emphasised the importance of synergy, intelligence sharing, and sustained collaboration between sister agencies.

He noted that effective cooperation remains critical in addressing emerging security challenges, stressing that both agencies need each other to effectively achieve their mandates.

The CAC also highlighted the role of joint efforts in monitoring the movement of goods and persons, adding that improved coordination would significantly boost national security and economic protection.

In his response, Bashir appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the commitment of the DSS to continued collaboration with the NCS.

He stressed the need to extend this relationship beyond the leadership level to include officers at the operational and field levels.

He further encouraged sustained interaction and cooperation between personnel of both agencies to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and effective service delivery.

The engagement concluded with a renewed pledge by both agencies to deepen their partnership, enhance intelligence sharing, and strengthen security collaboration across Kogi State.
