INEC Warns Against Fake Online Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website claiming that the Commission has announced a new date for nationwide online voter registration.

In a public notice released by INEC, the website claims that online registration will run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

The Commission warned the general public that the website, tinyurl.com/inecnigeria-cv…, is fake and has no affiliation with INEC.

It strongly advised members of the public to refrain from clicking on the link or submitting any personal information on the website, warning that doing so could expose them to the risk of having their personal data harvested or misused.

The Commission also clarified that the voter registration exercise closed on July 26, 2026, stressing that any information suggesting that a nationwide online voter registration exercise is ongoing is false.

INEC urged the public to remain vigilant and verify all electoral information.

It also encouraged members of the public to contact the Commission for enquiries through the INEC Call Centre at 070022554632, the INEC short code 4632, or the telephone numbers 090844444333 and 09050858629.

Enquiries can also be sent via email at iccc@inec.gov.ng. The Commission’s official website is inecnigeria.org, while its news portal is inecnews.com.
