The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters — 14 in Akwa Ibom State and 7 in Abuja.

EFCC disclosed that the 14 suspects were apprehended by operatives of its Uyo Zonal Directorate at various locations across the state, including Afaha Offot, Ikot Atuen, Abak, and Nwaniba, through an intelligence-driven sting operation on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

“Items recovered from the suspects include 19 mobile phones and three laptops. The suspects will be charged to court after investigations,” the Commission stated.

The anti-graft agency also revealed that the other 7 suspects were nabbed in the Lokogoma axis of Abuja on the same day, following actionable intelligence linking them to alleged internet-related crimes.

“Items recovered from them include 13 phones of different brands and one international passport,” it noted, adding that they would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
