NAFDAC Uncovers Shop Selling Fake Drugs in Abia, Recovers over ₦5m

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has discovered a shop packaging and selling unregistered and falsified drugs at Ekumi Plaza, Ariaria Market, Abia State.

NAFDAC disclosed this on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, noting that the fake drugs are mainly contraceptives including Postinor-2, Ampiclox GSK from India, Vega Plus 100, Claratem-QS, and Maloxine tablets.

“Officials also found over ₦5 million in the shop owner’s table drawers. When contacted by the DSS, the owner denied any connection to the shop,” the regulatory body said.

The agency also stated that further investigations revealed the presence of methamphetamine in the shop and other locations within the plaza.
