The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has sanctioned RwandAir over a consumer protection-related infraction, imposing a ₦15 million fine on the airline for failing to resolve a passenger’s baggage complaint.
The airline has also been directed to replace the passenger’s damaged baggage and pay $170 as first-need compensation, in line with the provisions of Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
The Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the NCAA, Michael Achimugu disclosed this in a post on X, formerly Twitter on Friday.
According to Achimugu, the sanction followed RwandAir’s failure to resolve the baggage issue within the stipulated timeframe.
Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 provides the regulatory framework for consumer protection in air transport, including obligations relating to baggage complaints and passenger compensation.
