Nigeria Better Today Than Ever Before – APC Spokesperson, Morka

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has declared that Nigeria is better today than it has ever been, stressing that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are laying the foundation for sustainable prosperity.

Morka stated this on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he defended the Tinubu administration’s economic policies amid concerns over the rising cost of living and the hardship experienced by Nigerians.

He asserted that the country has made significant progress in addressing longstanding structural problems in the economy, arguing that the benefits of the reforms would become more evident over time.

“Qualitatively speaking, our country is better. Nigerians are better today than they have ever been,” Morka said.

He maintained that the Tinubu administration had demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, adding that the current difficulties should be considered within the context of the reforms and the country’s economic history.

Morka argued that the administration had established the foundations necessary for long-term economic recovery and prosperity, saying the benefits of the policies would not necessarily be immediate.

He explained that the reforms were designed to address deep-rooted economic problems and create conditions for sustainable growth rather than deliver short-term gains.

“The point is that the micro outcomes come from the sufficiency of macro foundations,” he said, likening the process to constructing a building that requires a strong foundation before it can rise.

The APC spokesperson also defended the administration’s foreign exchange reforms, which moved the country away from an artificially managed exchange rate towards a market-driven system.

He emphasised that the adjustment had affected the value of individuals’ wealth when measured in foreign currency but argued that the impact should be assessed against the broader interests of the economy in the medium and long term.

“You can’t take everything about life, about economics, in short-term calculations.”

He further reiterated that Nigerians understood the reasons behind the economic difficulties and could appreciate the need for reforms, insisting that the administration had given the country an opportunity to recover and build a more prosperous future.

“What the president has done is to give this country a fighting chance, not just at recovery, but at building the prospects for sustainable prosperity,” he remarked.

On the 2027 general election, Morka expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory, saying the party was intensifying its preparations and would not take the electorate’s support for granted.

He mentioned that the party’s electoral performance since the 2023 general election was a result of careful planning, preparation, and sustained campaign efforts.

“We don’t take anything or leave anything to chance. We prepare, we do our homework.”

Morka also dismissed suggestions that the party’s extensive campaign preparations indicated desperation, explaining that political parties were expected to mobilise support and compete to win elections.

He added that the APC was committed to securing President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, expressing confidence that Nigerians would support the party at the polls.
