Nigeria Customs, NPA Partner to Enhance Port Efficiency

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) have engaged in partnership as part of efforts to enhance the efficiency of ports in the country.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, during a visit to the NPA on Thursday noted that the success of the NCS is interconnected to the effectiveness of the ports.

Comptroller Adeniyi stressed the importance of collaboration between the NCS and the NPA in improving the productivity and competitiveness of Nigerian ports.

“If we get it right in our ports, we will get it right in the Service. We have a number of initiatives that we are pursuing, and we need the critical buy-in of a stakeholder like the NPA for those initiatives to succeed,” he stated.

The Customs boss lauded the existing collaboration between the NCS and the NPA, highlighting the success achieved at the Export Processing Terminal.

He expressed confidence that implementing similar initiatives in the eastern ports will improve export activities.

The CGC added: “The Nigeria Customs Service is ready to work with our Ports Authority on initiatives that will ensure the competitiveness of our ports.”

On his part, the Managing Director of the NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho, assured the NCS of the agency’s unwavering support.

Dantsoho said: “We are here for you, and we will give you all the necessary support. Together, we can move both agencies forward and help Nigeria become a better country.”
