Obi, Kwankwaso, Dickson Have Historic Duty to Strengthen Nigeria’s Democracy, Says Pat Utomi

Ahead of the 2027 elections, political economy and management expert, Pat Utomi, has said that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, have a historic duty to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Utomi noted that one of the enduring hallmarks of leadership is placing the people and history’s judgment above personal interests and the demands of the moment.

Reflecting on his interactions with political actors in Nigeria, he stated that he often wonders who will help them sheath their egos like swords and give the “blackman” a fighting chance at dignity.

“Synergy is key to results. Together we can. One’s weakness is compensated by the strength of the other. Even the outlier dubbed troublemaker may be how disaster is averted,” he said.

Utomi explained that the key to triumph is a shared audacious goal, stressing that it requires managing hangers-on and praise singers.

“Dickson, Obi, Kwankwaso have a historic opportunity not because they are special, but because providence may have decided to grease the machine of Nigeria’s democracy through their partnership,” he stated.

He emphasised that the trio have a duty to posterity to keep their eyes on the ball, adding that this is how great leaders are made.
