A day before the governorship election in Osun State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that out of the total 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected, representing 81.5 per cent.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, made the declaration in a statement, noting that the remaining 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, had been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with the Commission’s established practice.
Haruna stated that some persons with damaged, defaced, or lost PVCs had applied for replacement of their cards, explaining that 6,101 of those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.
“A table of of the PVCs collected, polling unit by polling unit (PU), has been published on the Commission’s website,” he said.
The Commission reassured political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and the people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
