
Telecommunications company, MTN has appealed to Nigerians to remain loyal despite the increments in its data plans.
Recall that MTN on Tuesday announced an increment in its weekly 15 Gigabytes (GB) data plan from ₦2,000 to ₦6,000, representing 200 per cent increase, while other plans were also affected.
However, MTN, in a statement on Thursday acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerians, explaining that no justification can fully alleviate the impact of the changes.
“To our 15GB digital bundle lovers, You dey vex. We know.We know how upsetting it must have been to suddenly wake up to a 200% increase on your favourite digital bundle.
“We could share several reasons, and provide explanations, but omo, all that one na story. We don cast. We get it and admit it. Let’s just say na mistake,” the service provider said.
It urged Nigerians to use the Valentine season as an opportunity to put the situation behind and strengthen their relationship.
“In this love season, don’t stay angry with us. Please forgive and forget. You matter die and we will never stop showing you how much. Let’s continue our relationship. Thank you for your understanding.”
As a result of the changes, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) ordered Nigerians to boycott the services of MTN, Airtel and Glo from today till the end of February.
NLC expressed dissatisfaction over the skyrocketing prices and criticised the Federal Government (FG) for neglecting the welfare of the citizens.
The union threatened to shutdown the operations of the service providers if the tariffs are not reversed before March 2025.
