IWD: WIMA Nigeria Celebrates Women’s Resilience, Global Impact

The President of Women in Maritime Africa (WIMA Nigeria), Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora has joined the global community in celebrating women across the world as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.

The WIMA Nigeria President emphasised the significance of the celebration, noting that the day serves as a powerful reminder of the immense contributions women continue to make toward global development, peace, and societal advancement.

This is contained in a statement signed by President, WIMA Nigeria, Mrs Nwaeze Theodora and its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Lola Adesokan, made available to ThelensNG on Sunday.

According to her, women have consistently driven momentum for positive change across various sectors, creating meaningful impact and shaping a better future for generations to come.

“Today marks another important moment to celebrate women worldwide. I commend the resilience, courage, and unwavering determination of women who continue to stand firm in the pursuit of progress and equality. Women have shown remarkable strength and commitment in ensuring that our world continues to evolve and not collapse under the weight of challenges,” she stated.

Mrs. Nwaeze particularly acknowledged women in the maritime sector, praising their dedication and professionalism in an industry that continues to expand within the global blue economy.

“To all women in maritime and women across the world, I celebrate your doggedness and resilient spirit. Your commitment to excellence, innovation, and service has made significant contributions to the growth of industries and societies alike.”

She further described women as natural peace builders and solution providers who play a critical role in maintaining balance in society.

“Women are peacemakers and providers of solutions. They are fearless fighters for freedom and rights, showing zero tolerance for intimidation. Their presence in our world creates balance and stability, enabling families, institutions, and nations to thrive”, she added.

The WIMA Nigeria President also used the occasion to reaffirm her administration’s commitment to the organisation’s vision and strategic priorities.

She reiterated that the leadership of WIMA Nigeria remains firmly focused on delivering its core campaign promises of Empowerment, Innovation, Collaboration, and National Visibility for women in the maritime sector.

Mrs. Nwaeze assured stakeholders that WIMA Nigeria will continue to champion initiatives that strengthen the capacity of women, promote inclusive participation in the maritime industry, and enhance the visibility of Nigerian women on both national and international platforms.
