Kebbi Police Arrest 2 Suspects for ₦3.1m Tiller Machines Theft 

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects identified as Hamidu Bagudu and Abdullahi Aliyu in connection with the theft of seven tiller machines worth ₦3,150,000 in the state.

The Command‘s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

“On the 11th September, 2025 at about 1440hrs, one Architect Usman Wasagu ‘m’ of Kawara area, Birnin Kebbi, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, that on the 9th September, 2025 at 0200hrs, unknown person(s), broke his store located at behind Sajo School of Nursing Science, Birnin Kebbi, and stole his seven (7) power tiller machines, worth three million, one hundred and fifty thousand Naira (₦3,150,000:00).

“Following a credible lead, a team of Policemen attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, swiftly swung into action and succeeded in arresting one Hamidu Bagudu ‘m’ aged 52yrs of Tudun wada area and Abdullahi Aliyu ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Nasarawa area, all in Birnin Kebbi town in connection with the case.

“During preliminary investigation, they confessed to have received the stolen items from one Usman Inyamu ‘m’ of Tudun wada area, Birnin Kebbi, who is still at large. They further alleged that the said Usman sold the stolen items to Abdullahi Aliyu for the sum of One Million, Eight Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (₦1,840, 000:00), out of which the proceeds of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦250,000;00) have been recovered as exhibits,” the statement reads in part.

CSP Abubakar revealed that all seven stolen tiller machines were successfully recovered from the suspects by the police.

Commenting on the arrest, Kebbi Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani commended the professionalism and prompt response of the DPO Birnin Kebbi and his men, reiterating the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of all forms of violent crime.

CP Sani directed the DPO to immediately transfer the case to the State Criminal investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

He emphasised that with accurate and timely information from members of the public, the Command will remain resolute in making Kebbi State uninhabitable for criminal elements.
