Maritime Police, Shippers’ Council Strengthen Ties on Port Security, Trade Facilitation

The Maritime Police Command and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) have reinforced their partnership to enhance port security and trade facilitation, thereby promoting seamless business activities.

The partnership was renewed when the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Command, AIG Chinedu Oko, hosted a delegation from the NSC, led by its Director of Regulatory Services, Mrs. Ogbonnah Margaret, in Lagos, on Wednesday.

This is according to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Adebayo Rasheed.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Margaret commended the Nigeria Police Force for its sustained commitment to securing the maritime domain through the efforts of the Command.

She expressed the Council’s desire to deepen collaboration in areas of trade facilitation, port security, and stakeholder engagement.

In response, AIG Oko welcomed the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with the Council and other maritime stakeholders.

He assured that law enforcement operations within the port corridors will continue to align with the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business policy, ensuring that security measures enhance, rather than hinder legitimate trade and investment activities.

The visit was concluded with an exchange of goodwill and a group photograph, symbolising the mutual commitment of both institutions to fostering a safe, secure, and business-friendly maritime environment.
