MWUN Mourns Deputy President General

The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its senior officials, Comrade Taofeek Dabiri, who until his passing served as Deputy President General (DPG) of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) branch of the union.

The union, in a statement signed by its Head of Media, Comrade John Ikemefuna, described Dabiri’s death as a painful loss, noting that he was a dedicated and respected member of the organisation.

MWUN President General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dabiri, whom he described as a loyal ally and dependable colleague.

According to him, the late unionist was a man of honour who demonstrated uncommon commitment to the ideals of the union and was always willing to serve whenever called upon.

Dabiri was widely regarded by colleagues as a friendly and approachable personality whose presence brought warmth and positivity to every gathering. The union noted that his lifestyle, humility and interpersonal relationships endeared him to people across different backgrounds, earning him admiration within and beyond the maritime labour community.

“Comrade Dabiri was a good man whose exemplary life will remain indelible in our memories,” Bunu said, adding that his death has left a significant void in the union.

The statement further noted that Dabiri’s conduct, marked by discipline, respect and good manners, earned him the esteem of colleagues irrespective of rank.

He was described as a rare breed whose influence and contributions to the union would not be forgotten in a hurry.
