Real Madrid Confirm Jose Mourinho’s Return on Three-Year Contract
Real Madrid have confirmed the return of José Mourinho as the club’s head coach on a three-year contract, 13 years after leaving the club.
Mourinho, 63, began his first spell at Real Madrid after replacing Manuel Pellegrini in May 2010 and left the club in 2013. During his time at the club, the Portuguese won several titles, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Prior to his recent appointment, he was the manager of Benfica, where he served from September 2025 until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
In a statement on Thursday, Real Madrid confirmed his return, saying: ” The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today Thursday, June 11, and chaired by Florentino Pérez, has agreed to appoint José Mourinho as first team coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029.”
The club added that Mourinho will officially join on July 13 to begin pre-season preparations.
