The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at enhancing enforcement operations and safeguarding public health across the country.
The renewed commitment was made when the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the FCID, Simeon Akpanudom, paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Investigation and Enforcement at NAFDAC and Chairman of the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods, Dr Martins Iluyomade.
The Head, Public Relations Unit of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Victoria Akudu made this known to ThelensNG on Thursday.
The visit, at the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate office, provided an opportunity for both organisations to review their longstanding partnership in tackling the manufacture, importation and distribution of counterfeit, substandard and other regulated products, while exploring new areas of cooperation to improve joint enforcement operations.
NAFDAC and the FCID also reiterated their resolve to deepen inter-agency collaboration in order to strengthen regulatory enforcement, combat criminal activities related to regulated products and ensure greater protection of public health.
The occasion also featured a brief celebration in honour of the Assistant Inspector General, who recently marked his birthday, with both parties expressing goodwill while reaffirming their shared commitment to sustaining the productive relationship between NAFDAC and the FCID.
