Chelsea Football Club have appointed Enzo Maresca as its new manager following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino few weeks ago.
Maresca, 44, signed a five-year contract with the west London club with an option of one additional season.
“We look forward to supporting him and the rest of the sporting team in fulfilling their potential and our expectations over the years to come.
“He is a highly gifted coach and leader that we are confident can help fulfill our vision and competitive goals for the Club,” Chelsea ownership group was quoted as saying by sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano on the appointment of Maresca.
On his part, the Italian gaffer said: “To join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach.
“I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues the club’s tradition of success and makes our fans proud”.
According to Fabrizio, six (6) staff members from Leicester City will join Maresca’s coaching staff – and Chelsea will pay a compensation fee of over 10 million euros (€10m).
Prior to his latest appointment, Maresca was the manager of Leicester City and led the side to the recently concluded Championship title thereby propelling the Foxes to the English Premier League for the 2024/2025 season.
