Air Peace has confirmed a false fire alarm involving one of its wet-leased aircraft shortly after it safely landed and parked at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on Sunday.
The airline, in a statement signed by its management, said the aircraft had completed its scheduled service and was already parked on the airside, with passengers preparing to disembark when the captain received a fire indication alert in the cockpit.
According to the airline, the captain immediately activated the necessary precautionary safety measures in line with standard operating procedures.
It said all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft, adding that no injury was recorded in the incident.
“Air Peace wishes to notify our valued customers and the flying public of a false fire alarm on one of our wet-leased aircraft after it had safely landed and parked at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos,” the statement said.
The airline said its Maintenance and Engineering team was conducting a comprehensive technical assessment of the aircraft to determine the cause of the fire indication.
Air Peace also commended the flight crew, ground personnel and airport emergency services for their professionalism and swift response during the incident.
It further appreciated the passengers for their cooperation throughout the process, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of its passengers and crew remained its highest priority.
The airline assured the public of its continued commitment to maintaining stringent safety standards across its operations.
