IGP Disu Decorates 30 Senior Officers, Charges Them on Discipline, Accountability 

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated 30 senior officers recently elevated to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP).

The newly decorated AIGs include AIG Christopher Ado Emmanuel, AIG Joseph Eribo, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche, AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, AIG Mohammed Dahiru, AIG Dankombo Faling Morris, AIG Bello Shehu, AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, AIG Ahmed Musa, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, and AIG Haruna Olufemi.

Also decorated were CP Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, CP Sarah Idowu Ehindero, and CP Rebbecca Uchenna Okereke, among other newly elevated Commissioners of Police.

The ceremony was held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday, March 23, 2026.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the event followed the recent promotion of 84 senior officers, including the elevation of 54 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).

In his address, IGP Disu emphasised that the elevations are a formal recognition of merit, discipline, and proven capacity.

He described the promotions as not merely rewards, but strategic investments in leadership aimed at meeting the national demand for a more effective, accountable, and responsive Police Force.

The IGP charged the newly decorated officers to lead by example, maintaining zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, and dereliction of duty within their respective commands.

He reiterated his commitment to people-oriented policing, stressing that respect for human rights and active community engagement remain non-negotiable operational principles.

IGP Disu also disclosed that all newly promoted AIGs will proceed on a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat commencing on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The retreat, organised in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is designed to deepen transformational leadership standards and promote modern policing ethics among the Force’s senior leadership.
